~ My Goal & The
Library's Mission ~
Isabela's
1789 Club is for collectors to work together finding
answers to George Washington Inaugural
buttons, National Tribute Buttons, and an assortment of late 18th, and early 19th
Century U.S. Military buttons. This web site should be
strictly used for the pleasure of button enthusiasts as
a reference library, or a research tool for someone
studying early military buttons. Many of the specimens
exhibited within the library's sections are retained in the
personal collection of Robert J. Silverstein, others
were graciously offered by other button enthusiasts to
share and further the knowledge for current and future
button collectors.
So, none of the buttons
on this web site are for sale!
This should be used strictly for study.
Since there is a learning curve in this field, one
should take note that information will continually
change as evidence and facts present themselves. Often
new information will come to light which will support
theories and conclusions.
So, this library will
most likely be a continuing work of progress over my
lifetime.
Specimen submissions to the library will be Free and
open to the public, and membership will not be
necessary. My hopes is that this will become a
completely interactive library between myself and all
button collectors. Members please feel free to use the
open forum to submit questions to myself or other
members. This is a key instrument to help guide
collectors in properly adding the correct specimens for
a specific field of study. My goal will be to add new
information and buttons every month. Hopefully, this web
site will increase visibility of the hobby, and entice
new collectors of all ages to enter into the field I
have come to love. - Robert
